Car Shopping

This to me is one of those really distastefull things. Car salesmen are usually some of the most slimy and dishonest people you meet. They sneer when you say you only want to spend 8-10K and they show you how great the models are that are out of your price range-not forgetting to mention how you will easily make up for spending more in the end. You get what you pay for right?

Well, I am happy to report it wasn't that bad when we went. People were pretty nice and genuine. There was a little sneering and a little pushing the more expensive models but not too much hustling and swindling :)

We found out that the used cars imported from Japan are a lot cheaper than those assembled locally--and for good reason. That is not to say they aren't worth buying. that is most likely what we are going to get. You can't use the GPS's because they are for use in Japan and the CD players, owners manuels, and all other things are in Japanese. You can't trade out the CD players in the sportier models because you can't take the units out with cameras etc... but you can replace them in the more simplistic models. For a family car we are looking at both the toyota Ipsum and the Honda Odyssey. We have found several used and imported of both. The kids sure had a hard time looking at cars. Poor babies-I feel so badly that they are being draged around all the time. BUT I have taken them to do a lot of fun things in in between.

Well we have a lot to thing about and a lot to discuss before making some big decisions here. Tomorrow we go to the car auction to check out what they have there.

Wish us luck-
