September Movie Night 2011

This month we watched "Swiss Family Robinson" and had a really great time. I made a huge bowl of yummy popcorn with a honey caramel drizzled over top and Ethne was wild about it.  She kept at it when all the others were done.

She was wound up from all the honey and excitement and she was SO CUTE! I just kept taking her picture.
Beautiful smile
Husband saying: don't Please...
More Ethne Girl
Ezra, Ben, Enoch and Parker. Don't you love Ezra's belly button hanging out of the PJ's?  Every time I ask him to put on his pajamas he comes it with the shirt unbuttoned or with only one button done.  He doesn't like to take the time to actually button it and it usually takes me asking him a doz. times before it actually gets done.
Samantha or "Mantha" as Ethne calls her and "Esne Girl" as she calls her self.
Enoch and Parker
Ezra in disbelief--
Ben wondering--
Samantha actually stood in that doorway for almost the entire movie. At the very end of the movie Parker joined her in the doorway and would occasionally run from one side of the room and back to the door.  It was really quite comical for a bystander to witness.  They kept me giggling as usual
I sat down to hold Ethne because she kept asking Ben to hold her and he kept saying NO and she kept touching his arm and trying to climb into his lap so I sat down and held her myself.  I wish I could remember the whole scenario here because that kept Garrett and I in stitches as well watching Ethne and Ben.  You would probably have to know Ben though to really get why it was so funny.
This movie was a great success--a great pick if you are contemplating a movie night in your area for 4-12 year olds.  An oldie but goody as they say. By far the favorite part of the movie was the end battle with the pirates. The boys couldn't get enough talking in about coconut bombs and gun powder :)

A Walk With Friends Around Toward Breaker Bay

One afternoon we went for a walk with our friends the Ostlers. They live just up the street from us and my kids adore theirs.  This is Enoch and Ben. Ben is in Enoch's class at church even though he is a year older than Enoch and would typically be in the class ahead (they comb. the two together).

Here is Ezra with Ben. See the beautiful waves. This is the Ostler's back yard and a block in front of our yard :) Beautiful!
It was a little chilly out and Ethne was snuggled in my lap while Samantha Ostler was snuggled in her mom's lap. The boys went wild climbing the cliffs.
That is one thing I LOVE about boys! They are always up for adventure and excitement.  This is Enoch and Ezra.
I was actually surprised at how good Enoch was at climbing. He really has gotten more and more adventurous since we moved here. A year ago he probably wouldn't have felt safe/confident enough to do this.
Sliding back down in the wet sand.
Enoch already heading up for round two as Ezra comes down.
That is Ben up at the top with Ezra following

You can't tell from these pictures how high up they were but Enoch is quite a ways up from the ground.
Fun times and good climbing boys.

You Probably Had to Be There

You have to know Ezra and his shrugs and looks to really get how funny this story is--
Lately I have noticed that Ezra has one or two shirts missing 1/2 the top button and I was sad since they are usually shirts with the most wear left.  Today I was watching Ezra and I hear a huge crunch and saw that he had bitten off the top 1/2 of his top button right there and then.  I was so mad. I couldn't believe he had done that to his shirts on purpose. I sent him to go sit on his bed because I didn't want to say the things that were on the tip of my tongue.

A few minutes later Garrett went in there to talk to him and went back outside. I was walking by Ezra's room and went it to "deal" with the situation.

I started with: so what did Dad say to you??
Ezra: shrugs looks at the floor then up at me with a tiny smile and back at the floor. He says "if I need to chew on something during the day?" (meaning he wanted to know if I needed something to chew on during the day)

It was so ridiculous that I just started laughing and Ezra looked at me with another shrug and tiny smile and I said: He wanted to know if you needed something to chew on during the day? That's pretty funny isn't it?
Ezra: "yeah"
Me: what did you tell him?
Ezra: shrugs again and says sheepishly "I dono (don't know) maybe!"

It was so Ezra that I couldn't possibly be mad at him. He is just the cutest kid. Silly Boy!!
