Not sure what this means but funny anyway

Enoch and Ezra are outside playing and Enoch just said "I am the dad and you are the little son and you don't know what I am talking about"

Waking up on the WRONG side of the bed!

Ezra is sick today and I have been trying to be extra flexible for him since he doesn’t feel well. I suggested about 10 different things for lunch and he didn’t want any of them. He was throwing a tantrum. I said Ezra, you TELL ME what you want and I will make it for you. He got very nasty and screamed “No, I am not going to pick and I don’t want anything you suggest!”. He continued to cry and want me to continue asking him if he wanted different things. Wow! Such a desire to be miserable is sad to see in one so young. Hope he gets well soon.

"Oh but I was working SO HARD!"

I just went in Ezra's room to get him out of bed. He never went to sleep for his nap Just as I opened the door he was standing up and finishing peeing all down his legs I said Ezra what happened? Why didn't you tell me you had to go potty. He said "I was saying I need to go potty". I said I couldn't hear you- you have to say it loud when you are in your room. When I told him that he couldn't have a jelly bean he said "why?" I said because you didn't wake up dry. He said "Oh, but I was working SO HARD!" Then he asked for a bath and I put him in and started the water then went to get the bedding out to the washer. I came back to see what he was saying in there and he was sitting there saying "I don't want to drown" over and over. I said you aren't going to drown honey and I turned off the water-- funny kid

Potty Humor

Today—Ezra was going to the bathroom and kept calling me in over and over to wipe his bottom. He thought it was so funny to try to “trick” me so as soon as I would come into the bathroom he would say he wasn’t done yet and then he would laugh and laugh and laugh. Silly kid. When I was done playing this game and he called me yet another time I said so you are really done this time? He answered “correct!” Before I wiped his bottom he said "mom, Jenny doesn't say (sigh) when I say wipe my bottom"

I said oh really what does Jenny say?
Ezra: "She just says OK."
knowing that he was comparing her to me I said: what do I say when you say wipe my bottom?
Ezra: (SIGH)

I realized that I do often sigh when he calls me in for that game over and over and over. (sigh)

Headlines Read: "Playdough Snake Mother in Distress Over Children"

Today Ezra was making snakes with playdough and saying in a momma voice: "AH I don't wanna have two kids"

I said you don't want to have two kids?
He said "No the momma snake said that."
Then he says "Ah! I gotta lota kids" and he makes the momma snake go crazy and scream and fall apart. "And the baby snake says (whines) where's our momma?" Momma snake: "Just a minute until your dad comes." Baby snake: "No I don't want to wait until my dad comes. Don't cut my brother." Ezra (as himself): "I have to cut your brother you're playdough"
He is so funny having conversations with himself and the playdough snakes and doing all the voices.

I can't help but think this conversation doesn't make me look so good :( Poor kid he must be growing up with baggage.

Is Your Name Charlotte?

Enoch and Ezra outside on the porch found a spider:
Ezra asks the spider if her name is Charlotte. Enoch says "she didn't hear you Ezra. Say it louder." Ezra asks again and the spider still is silent. Enoch says "Ezra you have to say it louder" so Ezra yells "Is your name Charlotte?" The spider says nothing. Enoch says "Ezra I don't think she is listening to you." Later I hear Enoch yelling "IS YOUR NAME CHARLOTTE?" Ezra says "no" Enoch says "I'm not asking you. I am talking to the spider".

From the Mouth of Babes

My friend Dawn was watching the boys the other day and she asked them a bunch of questions and recorded their answers. They weren't real talkative with a lot of them she said but some of these were very funny.

What is your moms favorite food? Enoch: quesadilla's, cheese and chocolate chips, (where he got that I have NO idea) dough (another mystery-maybe he was thinking about what he likes becuase I don't eat things in dough form), cookies. Ezra: Some carrotts, some onions, some peppers, and tomatoes.
What makes you proud of your mom? Enoch: "Because she's happy" Ezra: "because I love her"

Pick a # Between One and Ten

Ezra was playing with his animals and I listened in on their conversation. Ezra played all the parts of each animal with different voices.

Ezra Yells: Does anybody want a drink? DID - YOU - HEAR - ME? (covers his eyes). Pick a # 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.
Pig: I pick 4
Ezra speaks for each animal one at a time as they pick a number.
Ezra: OK (gives them each a drink from his sippy cup).

Ezra's Story-The alligator and the penguin

Ezra wanted me to write this story down for him.

Ezra: Once upon a time there was a penguin who had a friend alligator and there was a boat and a storm and the whale ate the penguin and the alligator and they were in the belly and then the whale ate the fishys. Then a tiger ate the penguin and the alligator.

Mom: How could a tiger eat them when they were in the belly of the whale?

Ezra: No! This is a different story. Then there was a road and the tiger was in a car. And then there was a baby in the car with a daddy and mommy (and write that down) and Jonah and the whale.

Another Day in the Life of the Fry's

We have been introduced to a new and marvelous series for kids by my friend Carrie Westover. The boys are just crazy about it and it has definitely replaced old favorites in their hearts. "Charlie and Lola" are brother and sister and they have many many fun adventures together. Mostly it is a sweet relationship between an older sibling who dotes on and adores his younger sister. Enoch watched a few episodes of it today and this is what he came away talking about: "Sizzles is the VERYEST clever dog. He is amazing. He can do anything. Sizzles can paint and do puzzles and do the dishes and watch movies. He is the cleverest dog. And Sizzles can turn on TVs and catch things in the air when they fall on a wheel and with a string going with sticks."

Enoch's favorite episode is "I won't ever NEVER eat a tomato" He thinks it is all SO funny. Tonight at dinner when he was eating veggies he said: "I wish Charlie could trick Lola about a pepper. Lola said I won't eat a pea and Charlie said they aren't peas they are green drops." Then Enoch giggles and giggles about the fact that she was tricked into eating the peas. He has given me commentary on every episode he has seen so far. Ezra hears him and joins in the conversation. He tells me all about his favorite episode with Sizzles the dog and about fish fingers and carrot somethings from Jupiter.

The other day we had a funny conversation about why Charlie and Lola say things differently than we do. I explained that they are from another country called England and so they say toe-MA-toe, and fish fingers, and other such things when we say them a little differently. Enoch said "are they speaking Spanish?" I said no they speak English just like we do but they pronounce things a little differently in England than in America. He had a hard time wrapping his brain around that one. It helped today though to read "The Tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher" and how he wears goloshes and a macintosh. Enoch was in awe of this new concept. Very cute to see the wheels turning in his head.


Enoch to Ezra: "So I heard you don't like kisses?" This is the Ezra who is a cat. The cat Ezra doesn't like kisses, I guess, and told Enoch not to kiss him. Enoch thought this was worth restating and mentioning about 5 or 6 times today and yesterday.

Yesterday on our way home from Costco Enoch and I had an interesting conversation. Enoch was in a very argumentative mood and was certain he was right about everything no matter what.
Enoch: "Mom the Holy Ghost is brown"
Me: oh really, why do you think that he is brown?
Enoch: "I mean he is black"
Me: Oh black? Why do you think that he is black?
Enoch: "Because my friend told me on church day that he was black"
Me: Well the Holy Ghost is kind of like the wind. You can feel him but you don't see him. He isn't really any color at all. Just like the wind you can know he is there by feeling him but you don't see him.
Enoch thinks for a little while then says: No my friend says the Holy Ghost is black and I am going to believe him. You are wrong mom.
After a few attempts to persuade him I gave up and said OK. He got quiet for a little while and then just as we pulled up into the driveway he says: "Mom, the holy Ghost is like our bones. You can't see them but you can feel them in our skin.

Today in the shower Ezra was all soaped up and he said "mom, I'n like a bleedy knight" I didn't get it and said What do you mean your like a bleedy knight? He said "I'n covered in this dripping stuff like a bleedy knight" Where he gets his passion for violence I will never know. He hasn't really seen any or heard of any that wasn't from the scriptures. Hm, I guess that answers my question.

Speaking of Ezra in the Shower. He is really closely related to the hippo family. He prefers to spend most to all of his time in the water. Sink, shower, bath, pool, sprinklers, pond, lake, ocean, or water hose it doesn't matter. He just likes it all. When you take a shower with him he uses hippo like tactics and is VERY aggressive and territorial. He gets between you and the water and backs up against you until he, and not you, is in the water. He says constantly-mom (or dad) it's my turn-move I need to rinse off. He NEVER wants to get out and he complains that the water is too cold when it is so hot you think it couldn't be good for his 2 yr. old body. He often surprises you by showing up climbing into the tub with his clothes removed and taking over YOUR shower. He doesn't seem to realize he is an uninvited guest but rather sees himself as king of the shower and nice enough to let you occasionally into the water. Garrett is especially annoyed with Ezra's lack of shower etiquette and often reminds Ezra that he is free to remove himself at any time.
