We have been spending a lot of time at the beach lately to make the most of the warm wonderful weather we have been having. Today was actually HOT and fantastic. We played in the sand with friends first and then when they left we made our way over to the rock pool where the boys could practice their swimming skills and Ethne could play in the water and sand. Camilla caught a tiny fish in her hand and we all watched it puff its face up really huge when she pulled it out of the water. right now it is the equivalent of Nov. in the states and we still have great weather. SO NICE!!!
Ezra was laying on a hot rock talking to Camilla and playing the "guess what animal I am thinking of" game. Suddenly he said "Camilla, I don't want to play this game anymore I just want to sit and enjoy the beauty of the beach". That boy sure has some great one liners.
Enoch is getting SO good at swimming and snorkeling. The past two days he has swam/snorkeled without a life jacket. Yesterday, when we went to the beach Enoch and Ezra both jumped into the water without me and started swimming. Ezra had a life jacket and Enoch didn't have anything. I watched them very closely. Once Enoch seemed to be going down and I dove in to save him BUT as it turned out he was fine. A little while later he seemed to be struggling again but I gave him another minute to make sure and when he went down again I dove in again, but another guy was closer and saw him at the same time. He dove in and saved Enoch before I got there. It was scary but Enoch was fine. I held him and we talked about what went wrong and what he could do differently next time to not panic. What happened was he tried to stand up in the water but it was too deep and he panicked and scrambled. While he scrambled his mask came off and he got a mouth full of sea water which made him gag and panic more.
today he was a little more gun shy going in but he did a great job and didn't have any problems. This time though I swam by his side just in case.
I sure love living by a magnificent beach but I feel so tired and lazy when I get home. I am worn out. we walk about 1.6 K to the beach (down hill). Then we swim and play in the heat. Make at least one long trek to the bathrooms and back and then swim and play for hours. Then we walk up hill the 1.6 K and by the time we get home, get everyone showered and fed I am ready for a nap. So here I sit blogging instead of cleaning, cooking, walking uphill to the library and the Asian market and anything else I should be doing. Now if only I had some ice cream ;)
