This is my Enoch AKA Mr. Enoch, E-nie (his cousin Olivia used to call him that when she was little and he loved it), the KING of Deduction and Enoch man. We pretty much just call him Enoch though most of the time. My boy is handsome, introspective, intelligent, fun, silly, a tease, helpful, and deductive. He is also naughty and sneaky sometimes :) We LOVE our Enoch. We just couldn't get by without him. Every day I am amazed at what a smart kid he is. He soaks up everything around him good and bad and then filters out the bad thank heavens. I have to be VERY careful what he is around because he will pick it up in a moment without even understanding it. Needless to say we don't watch a lot of movies or cartoons at our house. We stick with the basics: Charlie and Lola, Veggie Tales, Signing Time, I Love Lucy and certain movies.

Enoch excels at everything he does. Give him enough time and the right environment for learning and he will be good at it as long as he has a motivation. There are some things he has no interest in but most things he can find a motivation for picking up. He is physically coordinated and can play sports, but he finds the social interaction of the sports more appealing that the actual sport itself. When he played soccer at 4 and 5 he could be often found on the field talking to some little girl about a barrette in her hair or what she did that week while kids were running around kicking the ball. Of course once his focus came back he could steal the ball and score a goal-great to watch!

Healthy eating is another part of our family and Enoch is very good at this all by himself. When he was 4 at my brother's wedding he was off at another table visiting with some family members. My brother-in-law later told me that Enoch was refusing wedding cake because there was too much sugar and calories in it :) He has a lot of self-control and cares about his body and his health. The other day he told me he wasn't going to have any sugar for a while because he was concerned about cavities.

Enoch is a little OCD about germs. He is working hard to NOT wash his hands too much and to not cry and get upset when another child doesn't wash their hands. He has the idea in his head that his cousin Sammy and his brother Ezra need to be watched VERY closely when they go to the bathroom because "they never wash their hands". He feels it is his duty to be the germ police, but he is working on it so that he doesn't grow up to be an unhappy, but clean adult :)

One thing that I LOVE about my Enoch is that he can always (almost) be trusted to be obedient. If there is something he is told not to do he will not disobey a direct order. If there are loop holes in the order he will find them and if his conscience allows he will get around the order under the loop hole clause, but if I say Enoch-don't do _____ he won't do it! One day recently Garrett told them they couldn't do something. I said Garrett I have been letting them do that and they have been OK. Enoch said to Garrett "mom trusts us to be able to do that now dad....". He was making a connection between Garrett's past teaching on trust and it happening in his own life right then. Pretty amazing kid for his 6 years. He understands that trust is earned and he wants to be trusted. He has a wonderful conscience because he listens to it. Ezra on the other hand is a little shaky here. He needs no loop holes he just needs to be quick and stealthy and not get caught. To the great dismay of his mother I might add.

Enoch isn't naturally an empathetic person but he is learning to check on others when they are hurt or sad. For some reason he just expects that everyone will just get up and be OK-maybe because that is usually what happens.

He is really fun, loves making people laugh and makes friends very easily. He is a very social person and would rather have friends over or go to friends houses that be alone any day. I haven't noticed at all that he needs alone time- Very different from Ezra.

The one thing that will totally crush him is to know that someone is displeased with him. It hits him to the core and it makes him really emotional. He had started saying things like: "I am a bad kid or I am not a very good son". I think I have convinced him that he is not "BAD" because he hasn't said it for a month or so now, but it concerns me. I hope to teach him the difference between being a "bad" person and doing something that is "bad". He is really truly a GOOD boy and loves his mother dearly even though he sometimes screams horrible things to her like "Whoever told you that you could be a mom?" :)

One thing that is wonderful about Enoch is how much he loves his brother Ezra. He shares everything with him and is very generous. When either of them get a gift it is like they both got one because they share so well with each other.

Another thing I love about enoch is that he is a good eater-not picky and he LOVES my cooking and almost always gives my meals a 10 :)
